We are a true community radio station for the areas of Wigan & St. Helens, based in the North West of England. Our station is run by a team of dedicated volunteers who have a real passion for both community radio and our local area.

We first launched in 2009, you may have known us as Galaxy247 back then, before our name was changed to Wigan FM. But the decision was taken to rebrand to Countywide Radio when we started to cover the area of St. Helens too.

During 2021 we sent our DAB digital radio licence application to OFCOM, to broadcast across Wigan & St. Helens. OFCOM accepted and approved our application, subsequently awarding us our ‘Small-Scale Community DAB Licence’.

Over the coming months we will be transitioning from an online-only radio station to DAB digital radio. But don’t worry you will still be able to listen online if you aren’t within our catchment area!
